MORITZ GROSSMANN MANUFACTURE VISIT IN GLASHUTTE I/S
Thanks to my AD Degreef in Brussels and the invitation of Christine Hutter CEO of Moritz Grossmann I was able to have a visit at the Manufacture Grossmann, a small but interesting watch manufacturer in Germany who gives a lot of attention into details and manual finishing of their watches. Impressive to see what a high level of watchmaking they deliver.
Entrance and general view on the modern building of Grossmann overlooking the valley of Glashutte
Panoramic view from the board and reception room of Grossmann, overlooking the old town of Glashutte
here starts the tour with the cutting machines
different stages in cutting out the plates and other parts
quality control to see if everything is according the norms
from bigger to tiny pieces
equipment to clean the different parts to prevent oxydation
how the hands start to get a form
these persons are responsible for the outstanding work to make the hands how the look, the different stages take up to a day to complete a set of hands, all polishing is done manually !!
heating the hands over 210° gives the different colours they want to obtain, like brown or purple/violet
a lot of detail is done on the balance, finishing and polishing all handmade just like the calibration of this important piece, the hart of the watch.
hand engraved !!
assembly of the watches
adding the spring to the balance and then testing
after the tour a great lunch was waiting !
and then of course the presentation of the collection
My favourite, the blue dial Benu Pure
this is how the standard movement looks in the BENU
standard next to the high level finishing
the TEFNUT model
The BENU POWER RESERVE
look at the magnificent high level finish !! craftmanship all the way !
the absolute top piece, BENU TOURBILLION, limited to 50pc in white gold
I think I like it :))
another stunning favourit ! the BENU black dial in white gold !
look at the handengraved letters
Many thanks for the visit at Rainer Kern and Jean-Pierre Grisel who hosted us during our tour in Dresden and Glashutte ! and of course to Christine Hutter who made all this an unforgetable visit !
I can say without hesitation that I was impressed!
